Farewell Message From Chairman Mr. Cho

Dear KIS Family,

This is Cho, Sung Keon, the chairman of KIS.

It seems like just yesterday that I took over as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of KIS during a difficult time for everyone due to the Covid19, and now, after two years of service, it is time to hand over the reins to a new Chairman.

When I took over, the pandemic was coming to an end, and it was a very happy time to see students back in school and enjoying themselves. I have done my best to get our school back on track with many of the things that were interrupted during the pandemic, and I think a lot has been accomplished with your active participation and hard work. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for making my time as Chairman a smooth one.

KIS is changing and evolving at an incredible rate right now. While many international schools are experiencing a sharp decline in enrolment and losing good teachers, we are seeing an encouraging increase in enrolment and more good teachers staying at the school. I think this is a result of the passion and hard work of all the staff, including the principal of both sections.

Our school is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and its establishment has been a process of determination that has overcome many adversities. Since the early 1990s, there have been voluntary donations from Korean residents, Korean companies and bank branches in Hong Kong. In addition, free land leases were promised by the Hong Kong government, and construction cost support was obtained from the Korean government, allowing the school to be established in 1994. With such a proud history, the mission given to you is not small. I would like to ask you to nurture talent through excellent education and contribute to the local community.

I am confident that the coming future will be brighter. I also ask for your support and cooperation from Chairman Mr. Tak, Yeon Kyun, who will be with you for KIS starting today.

Although my term ends today, I will always cherish the happy memories I have shared with you and the valuable experiences that have helped me grow as a person. Once again, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to you. I wish you all the best for the future development of KIS and the happiness of the KIS family.

Sincerely yours,

Cho, Sung Keon
