Exam Rules: December 2011
1. These rules will be posted in the exam rooms and
other prominent areas of the school including the internet.
It is the responsibility of all students to read and
be informed of the rules. If there is anything that
is unclear, students are to ask for clarification before
any action is planned or taken. There are 14 numbered
rules.
2. Students are not to enter the exam room until directed
by the supervising teachers to do so.
3. All bags, extra clothing, books, notebooks, etc.,
must be left outside the examining room. Students should
bring into the room only the writing instruments they
will need in a clear plastic bag.
4. NO TALKING - Once the student is in the exam room
there is to be absolutely no talking or communicating
with other students. The student should raise their
hand and wait for assistance from the teacher if there
is any question or problem. Students are not allowed
to share materials like pens, etc., with another student
in the exam room.
5. Dictionaries of any form, either paper or electronic,
are not permitted in any exams.
6. Calculators are not are only permitted into the
following examinations: Biology, Chemistry, Physics,
Accounting, Business Studies and Year 8-12 Mathematics.
Graphical calculators are not allowed.
7. Students must not leave their seat during the exam.
8. Students should write in blue or black pen only
and make sure that their name is on all papers that
are submitted for assessment. Students must not use
correction fluid or tape.
9. No mobile phone or communication device is permitted
in the exam rooms. Failure to comply will result in
the student receiving a zero grade in the exam and confiscation
of the device
10. If a student is found to be cheating during the
exam, the matter will be referred to the principal and
the following may result: The student may receive a
zero grade for the exam and a permanent note about the
cheating will be entered into the student’s record.
11. Students may not leave the exam room in any circumstance.
Students should go to the toilet before the exams start.
12. Students must stop writing when informed that the
maximum time allowed has passed. All students must remain
in the exam room for the minimum exam period stated
on their exam. They must leave quietly when they do.
13. Students must write all examinations set for their
year and only in cases of very serious accidents or
illness will a medical excuse be accepted. Students
who do not write an examination may not receive a final
term grade in the subject, as exams are a required part
of core subjects. This could also affect promotion and/or
graduation.
14. Students are not allowed to remove any exam papers
from the exam room. Examinations remain the property
of the school once submitted. They may be seen by the
student but must not leave the school.
