Exam Rules: 2010

1. These rules will be posted in the exam rooms and other prominent areas of the school including the internet. It is the responsibility of all students to read and be informed of the rules. If there is anything that is unclear, students are to ask for clarification before any action is planned or taken.

2. Students are not to enter the exam room until directed by the supervising teachers to do so.

3. All bags, extra clothing, books, notebooks, etc., are to be left outside the examining room. Students should bring into the room only the writing instruments they will need. Students must not bring a mobile phone into the exam room.

4. Once the student is in the exam room there is to be absolutely no talking or communicating with other students. The student should raise their hand and wait for assistance from the teacher if there is any question or problem.

5. Students are not allowed to share materials like pens, etc., with another student in the exam room.

6. Students must not leave their seat during the exam.

7. Students should write in pen and make sure that their name is on any papers that are being given in for grading. Students are not allowed to take an exam paper from the exam room. Any paper not submitted for grading must be deposited in the garbage cans in the examination room.

8. All students must remain in the exam room for the minimum exam period stated on their exam. Students must stop writing when informed that the maximum time allowed has passed.

9. If a student is found to be cheating during the exam, the matter will be referred to the principal and the following may result: The student may receive a zero grade for the exam and a permanent note about the cheating will be entered into the student’s record.

10. Students may leave the exam room to go to the bathroom in emergency situations only. Students should go to the toilet before the exam begins.

11. Students must write all examinations set for their grade and only in cases of very serious accidents or illness will a medical excuse be accepted. Students who do not write an examination may not receive a final term grade in the subject as exams are a required part of core subjects.

12. No mobile phones or communication device is permitted in the exam rooms. Students who bring a mobile phone or communication device into the exam may receive a zero grade for the exam and have the device confiscated for a minimum of one month.
