Subject: End-of-year Information for
Grade 11 Students |
| As we are approaching an important
period for the grade 11 students this information
letter will inform students and parents about
events and their dates as the year comes to a
close. Please take careful note of the following: |
| Mock Examinations:
To prepare students for the upcoming IGCSE exams,
students will write mock examinations in all their
IGCSE subjects. A calendar for the mock exams
is attached. Students should take particular note
that the mock exams will count as the final end-of-term
grade. This means that the mock exams are not
just practice -they really count for a grade and
replace the end-of-term exams that will not need
to be written by grade 11 students. Just like
all end-of-term exams, students must attend
and write the exams or they will be given a zero
grade on their report for the exam. |
| IGCSE Examinations:
grade 11 students will be writing real IGCSE exams
in the period May 7th to June 3rd in the subjects
listed on the second calendar that is also attached.
Students must write these exams to pass each course,
but the IGCSE grade will not be used to determine
the KIS grade |
| Student attendance:
Morning exams begin promptly at 9 a.m. and afternoon
exams at 1 p.m. Students who are late will not
be given additional time. On days when
students have no exams or just one exam, students
are expected to come to school and to attend regular
classes using their normal timetable.
Teachers will use these periods for review. On
days when students have two or more exams, they
will be allowed to leave the school after the
last exam
|
|
Post Exam Timetable: after the final IGCSE exam has been written
on June 3rd, grade 11 students will return to
normal classes. When the rest of the secondary
classes have their exams in the period June 12
to 18, the Grade 11 students will be given
an exam break and they should not come to school.
From June 19th, grade 11 students will attend
regular classes where they will be given an introduction
to the courses that will be on offer in grade
12 in the 2008-2009 school year. June 27th will
be the final day of classes for grade 11 students. |
Grade 11 Term 2 Final
Reports: The last day of normal classes
before the examination period for grade 11 will
be April 9th. Teachers will issue a grade for
term work based on the evaluation that was done
in the period January 21st to April 9th and this
will be posted on the web site from April 14th.
This grade will count for 70% of the overall term
grade and the mock exam grades will determine
the remaining 30%. Once the mock exams have been
corrected a final report will be issued for grade
11 students on April 28th.
